Dr. Susan Mings - User Experience In the Product Development Lifecycle

Dr. Mings will discuss some opportunities for high-tech careers that fall outside the typical software testing, development, or program management roles.

Dr. Susan Mings holds BA (Carroll College MT) and MA (Washington State Univ.) degrees in English Literature, an AIS in Computer Programming (North Seattle Community College), and a PhD in Communication and Rhetoric (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). She's currently a User Experience Researcher with the Microsoft Office Design Group and an adjunct instruction in the Technical Communication department at UW. She’s held previous positions at Microsoft as a Programmer/Writer and Usability Engineer with several groups, including Visual Studio, Windows Server, and Exchange Server. In past lives, Susan worked as a technical writer, systems analyst, corporate trainer and instructional designer for various large and small organizations including the City of Seattle and Key Bank.
